for the Science Visit to Mount Morgan.
The Mount Morgan Science Experience Introduction - Focus Questions
- There have been many dams built at Mount Morgan. Why was the
water supply so important?
- The Mine was initially mostly underground. They then started
open cut mining. Not all of the removed material was gold ore,
what happened to the rest?
- How big a pile do you think the gold taken from Mount Morgan
would make?
- The mine used railway lines. What advantage did this give the
miners?
- The Open Cut mine is now mainly filled with water. What would
you expect the quality of this water to be?
- The swinging bridge is a famous landmark below the mine. Look
at the stream below. Why are the rocks that colour?
- Is the water clear?
- What do you notice about the vegetation around the river?
- What insect and fish life would you expect to find?
- When it rains heavily what would you expect to happen?
If you cant answer these questions now, look closely when
you visit these sites on your visit to Mount Morgan.
