Organised tours

The best way to experience the history of this great mining town is on the Mount Morgan gold mine and dinosaur cave tour. The two-hour tour goes through most of the towns major points of interest including the swinging bridges and the original gold bullion stores.

The tour then proceeds onto the huge man-made caves on the mine site. At the rear of the open-cut mine the tour stops-off at the area where a number of large dinosaur footprints were found in the 1950s. Tours begin at 9.30am and 1.30pm.

The tour departs from the tourist office on Railway Parade and there are also daily pickups from Rockhampton. For more information contact 4938 1081 or email dinobob@rocknet.net.au.
